Threats Continue at Twin Cities Area Charter School
INVER GROVE HEIGHTS, Minn. (AP) Officials at a Minnesota charter school that caters to Muslim students say the hate mail keeps coming despite the end of a state investigation.
The Minnesota Department of Education found last month that Tarek ibn Ziyad (TUH'-reek IH'-bin ZEE'-ahd) Academy hasn't broken any laws.
The department investigated several complaints that the school was blurring the separation between church and state. They came on the heels of the writings of a Star Tribune columnist.
While the school must change a few things by fall, its director says the findings exonerated the school.
But he says security worries continue and the school recently spent nearly $5,000 to install a security system so that all visitors must be buzzed in.
And he says some parents remain concerned about their children's safety.
