Letter to Obama Asks for Answer on Parental Involvement Laws

(FNF) Americans United for Life Action has sent a letter to Barack Obama asking him why he opposes parental involvement laws that are designed to help protect young girls from becoming the victims of sexual predators.

The letter to Obama tells the true story of a 14 year old Cincinnati girl who was impregnated by her 21 year old soccer coach. The coach convinced Planned Parenthood that he was a relative and signed in place of her parents to have an abortion.

"The point of telling this story about this 14 year old girl is to underscore for people that there is a very, very important reason for having parental involvement," says Charmaine Yoest of AUL Action.

But she says, Obama has publicly stated opposition to pro-life legislation such as parental involvement laws.

"We'll the first thing I'd do as president is sign the Freedom of Choice Act." Those are the words of Barack Obama to Planned Parenthood in July 2007.

The Freedom of Choice Act could undo 30 years of pro-life legislation, according to Teresa Collett of the St. Thomas Law School in Minnesota.

"The Freedom of Choice Act would be a more radical abortion on demand regime then we presently have under the federal court," says Collet.

Yoest wants Senator Obama to state why he supports the Freedom of Choice Act. AUL is waiting for a response from Obama.
