Judge Shuts Ohio Bar Called Site of 2 Homicides
TROTWOOD, Ohio (AP) An Ohio judge has ordered the closing of a bar where police say two people were fatally wounded within the last 10 months.
Trotwood Police Chief Quincy Pope calls the Higgins Station "an imminent public safety problem" for the Dayton suburb. On a police request, Montgomery County Common Pleas Judge Mary Kate Huffman on Tuesday issued an order shutting down the bar for two weeks, or until a hearing on whether to close it permanently.
Police say one person died and five were wounded when a gunman opened fire in the bar in December. Detectives say another man was beaten in the parking lot Sept. 26, went into a coma and died Oct. 4.
Higgins Station owner Luke Gosnell says he has his side to tell but can't comment further on advice from his attorneys.
